Gul five years of Economic Progress
President Abdullah Gul is currently Turkey's most popular figure after becoming the President since the establishment of modern Turkey.
At present Turkey as one of the fastest growing economy with GDP growth of almost seven per cent on average, doubling of exports in four years, increase of FDI by ten times and bringing inflation down to a manageable single-digit level.
The past five years present a commendable record in the history of economic management in Turkey. An economic laggard in 2002, Turkey is a resurgent economy in 2007

Gul Turkey become one of the world's most dynamic economies and that Turkey growth of greater than 7% avarage in last 5 year. Turkey will post its best growth rate in the last 40 years. The economic administration has brought stability and structure that continues to grow day by day. Turkey has become an active economy with a widening trade capacity.
Turkish Economy private sector as having the greatest have an impact on Turkey's economic growth. The weight of the public sector in the economy has decreased.
Economic Reforms working well, Legal Reform law was adopted and working well, Social Reform law was adopted and working well, Government Reform process moving in the right direction
The Trade with European and other European countries are growing and moving in a right direction.
The trade with neighbour counties Iran, Syria, Iraq and Pakistan and other middle east countries are growing very fast in the right direction.
The trade with other Asian counties and other are growing in the right direction.
What make a Country Rich, Happy, Healthy & Strong Nation. Is Good, Organise, Honest, Business Friendly Government and a Free Enterprise System, like Canada, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. The Oil, Gold, Natural Resources, Population, Area, Location is not the Key for Development. Take the example of Japan & Singapore
As a whole President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was the best leaders Turkey has produced in the last 60 years of the modern history.
After Erdogan came back to politics in march 2003, as a member of parliament for the constituency of Siirt, Gul cleared the way for him and dissolved the government to become a foreign minister and deputy prime minister under Erdogan's new government within a few days.
Widely respected in Europe as a committed reformer, Gul presided over the launch of Turkey's European Union talks after becoming deputy prime minister and foreign minister in March 2003.
President Abdulla Gul Born in Kayseri in 1950, Gul graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in economics in 1971, and received a doctorate from the same university in 1983. During his graduate studies he attended programmes in Exeter and London, UK.
Gul participated in the foundation of Sakarya University's industrial engineering department, teaching economics there from 1980 to 1983.
From 1983 to 1991 he worked at Islamic Development Bank, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as an economist, and became an associate professor in international economics.
Mr Gul, an English and Arabic speaker. Joined 1991 Parliament and became a member of the planning and budgetary commission in the Turkish parliament under the auspices of the Welfare party.
In 1993, he became deputy chairman of the Welfare party in charge of foreign affairs, and in 1995 joined the Turkish foreign affairs commission.
From 1996 to 1997, he served as a minister of state and government spokesman.
Following the exclusion of the Welfare party in 1999, Gul was re-elected to parliament for a third time as member of the Virtue party.
In 2001, Gul was awarded with a medal of the Council of Europe and became honorary associate of Council of Europe parliamentary assembly.
Mr Gul then became a founder member of the AKP in 2001.
Seen as the engineer of Turkey's EU accession bid, Gul has played a major part in achieving a plausible success to his country's efforts in the course of the EU membership as a successful economist who worked for an Islamic bank in Saudi Arabia and who studied economics in England.
Holding a B.A. in economics, and a Ph.D. from Istanbul University, Gul has played a key role in promoting the Turkish economy after it had suffered a severe setback during his predecessors time in power. Observers, as well as so many Turks, see Gul as the mastermind of the country's thriving economic growth. He could achieve his large-scale popularity for his party's tangible fulfillments in such an important field in a country seeking the EU membership.
Now as a President, and the army's Commander in chief, Gul has the right to veto laws and dissolve the parliament. He also can appoint a prime minister and some figures for both the military and civic establishments.
He married Hayrunisa Ozyurt in 1980 and the couple have two sons and a daughter.
